Autumn Newsletter

Dear Friends,

welcome to my Autumn Newsletter.

Well, it's been a busy few months.  In August we attended to British Birdwatching Fair for the fifth consecutive year. I've got to admit with the ongoing economic climate we were a little worried as to how this would go but thankfully those worries were unfounded. Print sales were a little down on last year but by Sunday I had sold several originals, making this our second best Birdfair overall. You can read a full report on the three days on my blog HERE.

I am also pleased to report that I will again be providing images for the UK rod licence next year.  Deadlines are always tight so I am already well under way with the artwork. Next years species are salmon and pike and so far I think these are the best yet.  below is a preview of both paintings. Prints of both will be available to buy on the website later this year and I will also be running a competition in April 2013 to win one of each print on my Facebook page to coincide with their release as licences, so make sure you sign up!

Over the weekend of 15th-16th September I attended the Midland Game Fair near Telford for the first time in a number of years.  I was a guest of Freebird Publishing and Mark Walsingham promoting his new book "A Fool And His Eel"  which features a number of my paintings and photographs. The book is a fantastic read and I feel it has the potential to become a future classic.

At the moment I am painting furiously. Not only the rod licences but for my upcoming exhibition at The Birdscapes Gallery. This is a lovely, intimate gallery in the heart of Norfolk birdwatching country not very far from Cley Marshes so if your in the area please do pop in on Sunday 7th October (12.00 noon until 5). There is also a new 'Art Cafe' next door where you can enjoy a coffee and a bun afterwards!  'The exhibition continues until 20th October. As always my exhibition will be split between waders, sea birds and fish. Here's a sneak preview of some of the paintings that will be on sale. Please contact the Gallery if you are interested.

The British Birdwatching Fair

Where: At Rutland Water Nature Reserve, Egleton, Rutland, LE15 8BT
When: Friday17th - Sunday 19th August 2012
Opening Times: 9.00am until 5.30pm daily. Closes 5.00pm Sunday.
How Much: 1 day £12.50, 2 days £22.00, 3 days £30.00. RSPB and/or Wildlife Trust Members, on SUNDAY ONLY, £10.

This will be my 5th year at The Birdfair and I'm hoping that the sun will be shining on exhibitors and visitors alike in mid August after the dreadful Summer we've had to endure. Once again I will be exhibiting in the Art Marquee on stand 10 with my usual mix of bird and fish originals and prints.

This is a great day out for bird and wildlife enthusiasts. Not only do you get to see some of the best UK wildlife art all under one roof but there are marquees full of books, camera equipment, binoculars, telescopes and exotic holiday destinations. Add wildlife celebrities and lectures into the mix (Simon King, Bill Oddie, Jonathan Scott & Mark Carwardine to mention a few) and you can see why over 22,000 people visited last year.

I'm going to pack my easel and paints this year and set up a painting demonstration over the three days. I'm planning to do a puffin piece (hence the preliminary studies below which will be available for sale at the Fair) that should be finished by the Sunday, so anyone who's planning to come for the full three days will see a real progression from first brush-strokes to finished painting.

Below are a few of the paintings I will be exhibiting (all in oils). I also carry a large selection of prints which will be available at 'fair prices' so if you do decide to visit make sure you say hello and have a browse!

Dear Friends

Welcome to my first Newsletter.
I am planning to write four general newsletters a year with details of what I will be up to over the coming months and a small number of event specific notifications such as The Birdfair and Christmas ordering.

I do hope you enjoy this new addition to David Miller Art.

New Paintings for Sale

Due to the inclement weather I have been spending far more time in the studio than I generally do over the summer months. As well as catching up on my backlog of commissions I have also produced several new works for sale.  Atlantic Salmon, which sold straight off the easel, is now available as a limited edition print whilst the following paintings and other recent works that are still available.

As some of you may know I now have a dedicated page on Facebook.
